EMC Directive
The EMC Directive 2014/30/EU is the EU rule ensuring that electrical and electronic equipment neither generates nor is disturbed by electromagnetic interference.
It caps emissions so that equipment used as intended does not disturb radio, telecommunications or other equipment, and it also governs immunity to incoming interference. Apparatus and fixed installations must satisfy those requirements when placed on the market or taken into service, with good engineering practice required for fixed installations. Harmonised standards published in the Official Journal give a presumption of conformity; certificates issued outside the notified-body route carry no legal weight, and CE marking may only be affixed once testing and the prescribed conformity assessment are done.
