design, risk reduction measures and the information that must accompany the robot — covering the robot before it is integrated, while its Part 2 covers integration into complete systems and applications. The current third edition, ISO 10218-1:2025, was published in February 2025 by technical committee ISO/TC 299, runs to 95 pages, replaces the withdrawn 2011 edition and is not applicable to robots manufactured before its publication. Its scope excludes underwater, military, law enforcement, airborne and space, medical, healthcare and service robots, consumer products, and any machine lifting or transporting people. It is a paid document.
